How To Choose The Right Eyelash Extension Artist For You

Eyelash Extensions are incredibly popular and aren't predicted to be going out of fashion anytime soon. Many people desire fuller, longer lashes, and eyelash salons provide specialised services to achieve this look. Eyelash extensions reduce the need for daily mascara application, saving time in beauty routines. This convenience appeals to many people with busy lifestyles.

For all of that demand, though, there are only a handful of properly skilled eyelash technicians, and even fewer of them specialise in the technique known as Russian Volume (handmade fan application). Many salons use pre made/machine made fans which are technically easier to apply and the artist can be self taught or learn how to apply these from purchasing an online eyelash extension course.

Unfortunately the Eyelash extensions industry is not regulated in Australia, which can result in eye infections, damage to natural eyelashes and permanent injury to the eye. Poor results, bad customer service and a lack of basic skill is a common complaint heard and read on many salon review websites.

It is therefore incredibly important to do your own research when selecting a lash artist. Things to consider are;

  • Where did they train? Was it online or in person?
  • How long have they been lashing for?
  • Are they insured?
  • Do they offer lash sets that are custom for your eye shape and features?
  • Do they have a wide selection of lash lengths, diameters and curls to suit different clients?
  • Are they up to date on safety and disinfection protocols?

We only have one pair of eyes so be diligent when choosing your next lash artist!
